Imagine a classroom that transcends rows of desks and fluorescent lights. Imagine a space that actively fosters a child's development, nurturing their personality, self-esteem, and character. This isn't a utopian fantasy; it's the power of neuroarchitecture in action.
What is Neuroarchitecture?
Neuroarchitecture is the fascinating science that explores the connection between our physical surroundings and their impact on the brain and behavior. In the context of schools, it's about creating learning environments that go beyond academics and contribute to a child's overall well-being.
Here's how neuroarchitecture transforms classrooms into spaces that nurture a child's growth:
Building Confidence and Self-Expression: Personality thrives when children have opportunities for exploration and self-expression. Neuroarchitecture encourages this by incorporating design elements that spark curiosity and allow for personalization. Imagine designated "maker spaces" with crafting materials and interactive displays for students to tinker and showcase their creativity. Movable furniture allows for flexible classroom layouts, fostering a sense of ownership and control over their learning environment.
Fostering a Sense of Belonging: A safe and inclusive environment is crucial for building self-esteem. Neuroarchitecture achieves this by utilizing comfortable furniture that caters to children's sizes, like ergonomic chairs and adjustable desks. Incorporating natural light with large windows or skylights creates a welcoming atmosphere, and ensuring all areas are easily accessible for all students, including ramps and designated areas for students with physical limitations, promotes a sense of belonging and respect for diversity.
Developing Character Through Collaboration: Strong character traits like empathy and teamwork flourish through positive social interactions. Neuroarchitecture facilitates this by creating designated areas for group work, like round tables or beanbag seating configurations that encourage face-to-face interaction. Flexible furniture that allows for reconfiguration fosters a sense of agency and collaboration. Even utilizing calming colors like blue and green can promote cooperation and reduce stress, leading to more productive group learning experiences.

The Science Behind the Design
So how does neuroarchitecture translate into tangible design choices beyond furniture? Here's a glimpse into the key elements that influence a child's experience:
Visual: Soft lighting and calming colors create a focused atmosphere ideal for learning, while pops of color can energize and stimulate creative thinking. Consider incorporating biophilic design elements, like incorporating natural light and views of nature, which have been shown to reduce stress and improve cognitive function.
Tactile: Providing a variety of textures throughout the classroom, from soft mats for reading nooks to textured blocks in a sensory play area, encourages exploration and sensory learning, which is crucial for early development. Different textures can also help students who fidget stay focused by providing a tactile outlet.
Auditory: Balancing sound is key. Incorporating calming music for specific activities like meditation or yoga can improve focus, while designated quiet zones with sound-absorbing materials ensure students have a space for concentration when needed. Consider technology solutions like white noise machines or noise-canceling headphones for individual student needs.
Olfactory: Scents play a surprising role in memory and learning. Bringing in plants not only purifies the air but also introduces natural scents like lavender, known for its calming properties, or rosemary, which can enhance memory and focus.
By embracing neuroarchitecture, we can transform classrooms from sterile environments into dynamic spaces that ignite a child's curiosity, nurture their well-being, and unlock their full potential. This isn't just about design; it's about creating a foundation for a brighter future, one young mind at a time. Neuroarchitecture, coupled with innovative teaching methods, can create a symphony of design and education, leading to a more engaging and enriching learning experience for all students. This collaborative approach, where educators and designers work together, can ensure that classrooms not only meet academic needs but also foster a love of learning that extends far beyond the walls of the school.
The Impact on Educators:
Neuroarchitecture isn't just beneficial for students; it can also positively impact educators. By creating a well-designed and stimulating environment, teachers can experience:
See this Project: Emmanuel College Warrnambool
Investing in neuroarchitecture for schools isn't just about aesthetics; it's an investment in the future. By creating classrooms that nurture a child's development on all levels – cognitive, emotional, and social – we are equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in a complex and ever-changing world.Whether you're an educator, school administrator, or simply passionate about creating a better learning environment for future generations, there are steps you can take to incorporate neuroarchitecture principles.
Researching design elements, advocating for renovations, or even starting small with introducing plants and flexible furniture arrangements can all make a difference.Remember, every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow in a space that fosters their unique potential. Let's work together to transform classrooms into spaces where curiosity thrives, confidence flourishes, and a love of learning takes root.
By embracing these trends, educational institutions can cultivate learning spaces that empower students to become successful learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens in the 21st century.

Choosing the right student desks requires careful consideration of several factors that can significantly impact student comfort, productivity, and overall well-being. Here are some of the main aspects to consider when choosing the next desks for your classroom:
1. Thinking on the Students
Size: Desk size ensures proper ergonomics and prevents posture-related issues. Measure the student's elbow height from the floor to determine the ideal desk height. The desk should allow the student's elbows to rest at a 90-degree angle when seated.
2. Thinking on the Teachers
3. Thinking in the Classroom
Keep in mind some additional considerations to having a learning space cohesive and clean:
Student desks play a crucial role in shaping the learning environment and influencing student outcomes. Educators can select desks that promote comfort, productivity, and collaboration by carefully considering factors such as student age, needs, and teaching methodology.
We often receive enquiries about the various types of finishes available for our furniture from customers on the hunt for something unique for their project. We are pleased to announce that we have recently collaborated on a new range of textiles with Indigenous Australian artist Helena Geiger. In this blog, we’ll introduce you to Helena and her distinctive textiles inspired by the Australian natural landscape.
Helena Geiger is an Indigenous Australian visual artist born in Sydney. She is of Gumbaynggir descent, an Indigenous group from the Mid North Coast of NSW. For the last 20 years, she has specialised in the production of textiles, using techniques such as Batik, Shibori, and various hand painting and dip dying techniques to create unique textures and patterns for the furnishing and printing industries.
Helena’s work has appeared in exhibitions across Australia, including the Aboriginal Art Prize at Parliament house in Sydney, the Samjjana Global Gallery in Paddington, and Tjungu Festival at Uluru. The Flinders University Art Museum in South Australia purchased her work as part of their permanent collection.
Helena’s textile art draws its inspiration from specific Australian settings, using the colours, textures, and patterns she observes to create evocative, organic designs that are unmistakably Australian.
Her Cooroong series is influenced by the natural beauty of the Cooroong region of South Australia, a coastal area where the Murray River meets the Southern Ocean. Renowned for its native wildlife and unspoiled coastline, the Cooroong is recognised under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance.
Helena’s design is inspired by the “sweeping sand dunes, spinifex and saltwater rock pools” of this region, with a repeating pattern reminiscent at once of animal tracks along a beach, winding streams, and rippling reflections in water.
For her Karlu designs, Helena found inspiration in the Karlu Karlu site in Alice Springs, also known as the Devil’s Marbles. This spectacular landmark consists of enormous boulders that glow deep red, particularly in the early mornings and evenings. The site has become known around the world and is a popular tourist attraction for those visiting the Australian outback. It is a sacred site of great cultural significance for numerous Indigenous groups. Helena’s Karlu design takes its cues from the irregular shapes of the boulders and is available in a range of colours including Tawny, Sandstone, Earth, Lapis, and Bluestone.
These are just two examples of the textiles Helena has created. Her full catalog includes designs influenced by Australia’s lagoons, rain forests, sand hills, and natural elements such as tiger’s eye. You can check more about aboriginal and indigenous fabric textile collection by another artist Rosie Paine inspired by the landscape and colours of Western Australia.
With over 30 years’ experience delivering high-quality classroom furnishings, the team at Office Line understands on a deep level the needs of the education sector. We know the importance of the learning environment to the success of any educational endeavor, and we pride ourselves on delivering a professional, personalised service.
In partnership with Office Line, Victoria Park Christian School undertook a project to furnish its new teaching block, including four General Learning Areas (GLAs) for early learning years and a small admin area. The school sought furniture that not only provided functionality but also aligned with its vision for a natural aesthetic, complementing the nature-play playground in front of the classrooms.

The project involved the design and furnishing of the new teaching block at Victoria Park Christian School, in collaboration with Matthews & Scavalli Architects. The facility included four GLAs designed for Pre Primary, Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3 students, accommodating 24 children per GLA. Additionally, a small administrative area with three workspaces was created. An existing GLA for Kindy students was also part of the project.
To meet the school's vision of a natural aesthetic and durability, Office Line provided a range of furniture and soft furnishings, including:
The choice of fabric was critical to achieving the desired aesthetic and durability. Combining Rosie Made fabrics and Warwick Key largo in shades like 'Navy,' 'Sky,' 'Atlantic,' 'Marigold,' 'Paprika,' and 'Pumpkin' created a vibrant and cozy atmosphere in the classrooms. Office Line also provided Eduflex Bean Bags in 'Red' and 'Dark Blue' Marine grade vinyl to match the school's colour scheme.
The partnership between Office Line and Victoria Park Christian School resulted in a teaching block seamlessly integrating with the school's commitment to nature-inspired learning. Inclusivity and diversity are key drivers of innovation, creativity, and productivity. By cultivating an environment where individuals from various backgrounds feel valued and respected, educational institutions and workplaces can harness their diverse communities' unique perspectives and talents. This leads to improved collaboration, problem-solving, and overall success.
NAIDOC Week and Harmony Racial Day provide excellent opportunities to celebrate and acknowledge the rich cultural heritage of Australia. Engage your educational or working community in activities that promote cultural understanding and appreciation. Encourage participation in events such as traditional dance performances, art exhibitions, and storytelling sessions. Incorporating cultural celebrations into your space demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and respect for diversity.
Designing inclusive learning and working environments is essential for fostering creativity, collaboration, and equal opportunities for all individuals. By considering various design aspects, such as flexible and collaborative furniture solutions, multifunctional spaces, and accessible furniture design, organisations can create environments that accommodate diverse needs and promote inclusivity.
Consider modular Furniture such as mobile desks and chairs that can be easily rearranged to accommodate various group sizes and learning styles. Adjustable-height desks ensure accessibility for individuals with different physical needs, and incorporating ergonomic seating options can enhance comfort and well-being for everybody.
Create versatile spaces that can adapt to different activities and promote open conversations by incorporating furniture that can be easily reconfigured, such as mobile whiteboards or partitions, ottomans, and modular lounges, promoting flexible room layouts. These adaptable spaces encourage collaboration, active learning, and teamwork.
Furthermore, incorporating customised furniture with fabrics by Aboriginal artists like Rosie Paine and Helena Geiger is a meaningful way to support Australian small businesses. It also sparks conversations and serves as a valuable teaching tool, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous communities.

Ensure that your furniture choices cater to the needs of all individuals. Consider furniture with built-in accessibility features, such as height-adjustable desks, wheelchair-accessible workstations, and ergonomically designed seating for improved posture and comfort. By addressing accessibility requirements, you promote inclusivity and remove barriers for everyone.
Creating inclusive and diverse educational and working environments requires a holistic approach that extends beyond furniture selection. Embracing cultural celebrations, designing inclusive spaces, and engaging the community are key components of this effort. Collaborating with local Indigenous organisations and cultural centres to develop educational programs and initiatives fosters understanding and appreciation for Indigenous cultures. Engaging the community through workshops or seminars facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
Encouraging the formation of employee or student-led resource groups focused on promoting diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness is also valuable. These groups can organise events, provide educational resources, and serve as a support system for individuals from different backgrounds.

]]>Plastic waste is undeniably one of the most critical environmental challenges we face today. The prevalence of single-use plastics and non-recyclable materials is wreaking havoc on our oceans, landfills, and natural ecosystems. Surprisingly, even educational and office spaces have played a part in contributing to this problem, with traditional furniture often made from plastic-based materials that eventually find their way to landfills, despite their short lifespan.
At Office Line, sustainability is at the heart of our strategy, and we are committed to tackling this issue head-on. One of our key focuses is reducing the use of packaging materials, especially single-use plastics, during the transportation and assembly of our furniture.
Adopting eco-friendly alternatives is essential for educational institutions and offices to reduce environmental impact and foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
Here are some actionable tips to achieve this:
1. Utilising Recycled Materials:
Incorporating recycled materials into furniture manufacturing is one of the most effective ways to reduce plastic waste. Choosing furniture made from recycled plastics and other sustainable resources helps divert waste from landfills while reducing the demand for virgin plastic production.
This action conserves natural resources and reduces harmful greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional manufacturing methods.
Some noteworthy products that use recyclable materials include:
2. Durable and Long-lasting Design:
Investing in high-quality, durable furniture may require a higher upfront cost, but it pays off in the long run. Longer-lasting furniture reduces the frequency of replacements, resulting in a reduction in plastic waste generation.
At Office Line, we prioritise creating timeless designs that withstand the test of time, ensuring both economic and environmental benefits for businesses. A great example is our Space for Me products, backed by over 20 years of Warranty.
3. Opting for Biodegradable Materials:
We proudly collaborate with suppliers like Sustainable Living Fabrics and Gratnells, who promote the responsible sourcing of fabrics and use compostable bioplastic trays for their Educational Storage Range.
Sustainable furniture solutions encompass eco-friendly packaging as well. Minimising single-use plastics and utilising recycled or biodegradable packaging materials can further reduce the environmental footprint of the furniture supply chain.
At Office Line, we assemble most of our furniture at our Warehouse facility, which means we do not use additional packaging, ensuring it is prepared for delivery most efficiently. Additionally, we collaborate with furniture carriers who employ eco-friendly methods, such as using blankets and furniture rugs to safeguard items during transit, eliminating the need for single-use plastics.
Implementing sustainable furniture solutions allows you to create eco-friendly environments that inspire environmental responsibility among staff, students, and visitors. These spaces are living examples of the organisation's commitment to sustainability, fostering a culture of environmental awareness and consciousness.
Some of the additional benefits of choosing sustainable furniture solutions:
• Cost Savings: While sustainable furniture may have a higher initial cost, the longer lifespan and reduced replacement need lead to cost savings over time.
• Regulatory Compliance: Embracing sustainable practices can help businesses comply with evolving environmental regulations and standards.
• Employee Engagement: Creating a sustainable workspace can boost employee morale and engagement, as employees take pride in working for an environmentally responsible company.
At Office Line, we believe in the power of sustainable furniture solutions to drive positive change. By reducing plastic waste, utilising recycled and biodegradable materials, and embracing eco-friendly practices, we can collectively create educational and office spaces that inspire productivity and nurture a deeper connection to the environment.
Let's work together to build a greener, more sustainable future, one piece of furniture at a time. Join us in our commitment to promoting environmental responsibility and creating a lasting impact on our planet.

Utilising an adjustable desk offers a range of health advantages, including:
According to Harvard Health Publishing, standing desks offer multiple benefits. Not only can they help regulate blood sugar levels after a meal, but they also have the potential to reduce the risk of shoulder and back pain when compared to sitting. Furthermore, standing desks have garnered praise from individuals with ADHD and some medical professionals who believe that standing can enhance focus and alleviate restlessness.
However, it is important to note that standing all day at a standing desk is not advisable. Excessive standing can lead to discomfort and fatigue. Therefore, the recommended standing desk routine involves regularly switching between sitting and standing. A practical approach is, to begin with 20-30 minutes of standing per hour and adjust the duration as necessary.
Choosing the Right Standing Desk for You

The first step in designing the new spaces was to understand the requirements of both the staff and students. The administration spaces needed to be functional and space efficient with streamlined storage. Additionally, they need to be fun and inviting to stimulate interaction during meetings and to encourage discussions amongst the users of the space.
Employee well-being was one of the most important factors for consideration in this project. The staff room needed to be designed to be a multipurpose space with various seating options and zones for comfort, focus, and collaboration between colleagues.
Finally, the furniture for the student spaces needed to be creative, flexible, and functional. In this project, we prioritised keeping the design cohesive through the different spaces and including colours that promote focus and productivity.
To create a welcoming and professional environment in the administration area, we used the neutral, calming colours of Laminex ‘Calm Oak’ and ‘Polar White’ with accents of greens and blues. The Administration building used glass partitions to create private workspaces while still maintaining a collaborative atmosphere. This allowed natural light to flow through the space and created a sense of transparency and openness. We continued the flow between each office with matching storage and workstations while mixing colours of the Warwick Beachcomber fabric in a complementary palette of Cobalt, Forest, Atlantic, Teal, and Marine.
Our Okidoki Tables were selected for the staffroom in various heights and sizes to create the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Designed and made in Australia, the Okidoki family provides plenty of flexibility in its shapes and finishes, with a sleek rounded design and solid timber legs with contrasting aluminium details. With matching tops in Laminex ‘Milkwood’ that was continued throughout the room, the space felt open and cohesive. Teamed with the soft curving lines and luxurious comfort of the Oval Lounge and its modular configurations, the staff room cast off formalities and became a relaxing space!
In the student spaces, the focus shifted to creativity and flexibility. These areas included general learning classrooms, study nooks, and breakout spaces for students to interact and relax. To create an engaging and inspiring environment, we used bold blues and greens with a mixture of working heights, seating, and soft furnishings.
We included flexible furniture that could be easily moved and rearranged, such as mobile Eduflex Benches and height-adjustable tables. This allows students to adapt the space to their needs and work together in groups or individually. We also incorporated Adjusta Wobble Stools and ottomans to support modern learning methods and individual preferences.
In the breakout spaces, we created comfortable and inviting areas for students to relax and socialise. This included seating areas with extra-large cushions, foam-filled bean bags, individual laptop tables, and a large group I.AM D-End table designed for collaboration in the inbuilt curved seating. To add a touch of fun and playfulness, we incorporated differently shaped ottomans in various colours.
We loved working on this project with St John Bosco College to support their modern pedagogy by creating fun, engaging, and functional learning environments that support collaboration, teamwork, and individual growth for both students and staff.
We understand that turning your vision into reality can be challenging. That's why we offer a free consultation service. Our experienced designer will visit your location to craft a personalised proposal, and there's no obligation beyond exploring the possibilities of how your space can be transformed into something amazing.

What is Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity is a term used to describe the natural variation in the human brain. It recognizes that people's brains are wired differently, and that this is not a defect, but rather a normal variation in the human experience. Neurodiversity can include conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and Tourette's syndrome, among others.
Why is Specialised Furniture Important for Neurodiverse Kids?
Neurodiverse kids have different sensory needs and sensitivities than their neurotypical peers. They may be hypersensitive to certain textures or sounds, or they may crave certain types of sensory input. Furniture that is designed with these needs in mind can help them feel more comfortable and supported in their living spaces.
For example, some students may benefit from furniture that provides deep pressure, such as beanbag chairs or weighted blankets. Others may need furniture that is designed to minimize sensory input, such as soundproofing or blackout curtains.
This specialised furniture can also be designed to be more durable and resistant to wear and tear, which is important for kids who may be more active or rough with their furniture. Safety also needs to be especially considered and include features such as rounded edges or non-slip surfaces to protect the students.
The importance of Proprioceptive
Proprioception, our "sixth sense," is the sensory system that helps us understand our body's position and movement in space. It relies on receptors in our muscles, tendons, and joints that send signals to the brain about our body's position, movement, and the amount of force exerted.
In daily life, proprioception enables us to walk, reach for objects, and maintain balance without constantly looking at our limbs. It also helps us adjust the force and coordination of our movements based on the feedback received from the proprioceptive system.
For kids with sensory processing difficulties or neurodiverse conditions, the proprioceptive system may not function optimally, leading to challenges with motor skills, coordination, and body awareness.Incorporating proprioceptive elements in furniture and learning spaces can make a significant difference for the students.
Here are some examples of amazing furniture pieces perfect for developing inclusive learning spaces:
1. Sensory Chairs:Sensory chairs are designed to provide deep pressure and proprioceptive input, which can help regulate the nervous system and improve focus. These chairs often have a wide base for stability and are filled with foam or other materials that provide firm support.
2. Soundproofing Panels:Soundproofing panels can be placed on walls or ceilings to help reduce noise levels in a room. This can be helpful for neurodiverse kids who may be hypersensitive to sound.
3. Wobble Chairs:Wobble chairs are designed to allow for movement while sitting, which can help improve focus and concentration. These chairs often have a rounded base that allows them to tilt and rock without tipping over.
4. Rocking Chairs:Rocking chairs can provide a calming and rhythmic motion that can help regulate the nervous system. They can be used for relaxation or to improve focus and concentration.
5. Tactile Mats:Tactile mats are mats with different textures and materials for kids to explore and touch. They can be used for sensory play and exploration and can help improve tactile awareness and sensitivity.
Tailored furniture for neurodiverse children can significantly impact their day-to-day experiences. By offering furniture designed specifically for their distinct needs, these kids can enjoy greater comfort and support in their living environments.
Let us help you create the perfect space for them!

The City of Armadale's renovation project transformed their workspaces into comfortable and efficient areas that prioritize employee wellness and sustainability. The renovation project provided a functional and stylish space for their members, with the added benefit of eco-friendliness and sustainability. The project was a success, and the City of Armadale now has a modern and welcoming workspace for their stakeholders to enjoy for many years.

]]>A well-designed library not only provides a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere but also helps to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, through the use of innovative and practical furniture solutions. These solutions can help to increase efficiency, reduce stress, and create a dynamic and organized learning environment.
Libraries must be designed with ergonomic furniture, ample lighting, and a comfortable temperature to create an environment conducive to learning and research. Moreover, a library designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities, such as adjustable height tables and comfortable seating, can promote inclusiveness and accessibility.
Maximising space utilisation in a school library can be challenging, but with the right furniture, it's easier than you think. Here are five ways to utilise the furniture to its full potential and create a functional, stylish, and organised library environment that promotes learning and creativity.
1. Mobile Bookcases
Bookcases are a staple in every library, but traditional ones can take up a lot of floor space and limit the number of books that can be stored. Using furniture pieces with castors allows you to create different learning spaces by relocating the units depending on the activities you are working on.
Our recommendations:
2. Comfortable Lounges with Built-in Storage
Adding comfortable lounges to your library creates a cosy reading nook and extra seating for students. Look for lounges with built-in storage to keep books, magazines, and other materials organised, saving floor space and making the library look tidy.
Our Recommendation:
Instead of cluttering your library with piles of books, consider incorporating storage solutions that make the most of your floor space. From rolling carts to wall-mounted shelving, there are plenty of options to choose from that are both practical and stylish.
Our Recommendation:
4. Multi-Purpose Furniture
Maximise your library's functionality by choosing pieces that serve multiple purposes. Consider adaptable tables and lounges that integrate with other furniture.
Our Recommendation:
5. Collaborative Furniture
Encourage group work and collaboration by incorporating furniture that encourages interaction and teamwork. This type of furniture creates a welcoming atmosphere and fosters creativity and collaboration among students. From round tables to comfortable couches, there are many options to choose from that promote a sense of community in your library.
Our Recommendation:
A library that has a proper layout and organisation can increase efficiency and reduce stress for students and staff alike. In short, investing in a well-designed library is not just about improving the appearance of the learning space; it's about creating a functional and supportive environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, and wellness.
The right furniture solution can transform your school library into a dynamic, organised, and functional space that promotes learning and creativity. Invest in innovative library furniture today to optimise space utilisation, increase functionality, and enhance the overall aesthetic of your library.

Peter Carnley Anglican Community School's latest addition to their already impressive facilities, is ‘The Hub’, an Innovative and flexible learning centre. This space includes a senior reading lounge, collaborative spaces for E-learning, meeting/multi-purpose rooms, and a junior library area. The Office Line team worked hard to design and furnish a magnificent space which promotes creativity and collaboration, and exceed the school’s needs and expectations.
COLOURS AND FABRICS
Finishes are a very important part of our projects. In this case our interior design team selected Laminex’s Seasoned Oak, a soft warm oak with subtle grain, and Warwick Fabric’s Gravity range in Pomegranate, Navy and Forest shades. The Gravity fabric was chosen for its heavy commercial properties, calm muted tones, and subtle tactile herringbone texture. These selections help the educational furniture support flexible learning and create a comfortable and inviting space for students to learn, read and collaborate.
SENIOR READING LOUNGE
We designed a comfortable, open space that takes advantage of natural light coming in from the 12m span of windows. The curved Spectator Bookcase Collection with round I.AM tables and Eduflex Ottomans creates a perfect area for students to sit and work together, with ample shelving and relaxed bench seating below the windowsill. Ponder Lounges and joiner ottomans are also used as casual seating throughout the learning space, with a low 850h back and many configuration options to suit different group sizes.
Design Proposal:
MAIN COLLABORATIVE SPACE
This 21st century learning space was designed to be flexible and encourage students to share ideas and engage in E-learning activities. It’s thrilling to see students fill this area with colours and vibrancy as they interact freely. The large U-Shaped Spectator Bench Setting seats up to 32 students and the wrap around benching combined with Eduflex Laptop Tables in the centre enable the use of devices, and foster the open, collaborative nature of this learning space.

THE JUNIOR FICTION
This area is benchmarked by a Office Line’s Swell Collection, that was designed and manufactured specifically for the project. It offers 3 tiers of seating with 3 different heights: 300h, 450h and 600h for students to sit, read and learn in their own way. This space also has clusters of Spectator Bookcase Lounges in 90-degree segments around circular I.AM tables that provide an attractive surface for all reading, learning and creative activities of the younger students.

Salvado Catholic College have been a loyal customer of Office Line’s for many years. We are proud of the work we have done on learning area designs and layouts, and the manufacture of the educational furniture within the school. We have witnessed the growth of Salvado Catholic College from it’s opening in 2016 until now and feel privileged to be part of their journey.
We have worked closely with the leadership team to ensure each project is unique and tailored to the needs of a leading school in a fast-growing area, while also consistent with budget requirements. This includes planning learning areas efficiently and optimising furniture functionality and flexibility.
Our latest project involved the fit out for the new Secondary 2 Storey building, including:
At the beginning of a school day, this is the first area to be utilised by the students. It’s great to hear the hustle and bustle as this space is filled quickly, and the furniture used to it’s intended purpose: to create an engaging and comfortable area which attracts students, providing a friendly buzz at the beginning of each day and between classes. The zoned furniture layout also provides a great space for students to break out from their main class and engage in focused activity sessions with peers or mentors.
We’ve used our Eduflex Curved Lounges with the Communicate Disc Base Table in the circulation area, to create a mirror of the stunning pendant lighting feature. The lounge seats are upholstered in Warwick Beachcomber Marine and the tabletops are Laminex Classic Oak with a Black ABS edge & base, a striking contrast.
Salvado Catholic College has created an innovative environment for learning, where students and teachers can collaborate and share ideas. Different classrooms are set up to best fit the different methods of learning being taught, so that each student can be successful and receive the best education.
We believe in the importance of creative, innovative learning areas that inspire students to achieve their best. That's why we're proud to be part of a project like this one, which makes a difference for kids.

The idea of letting children play and learn without the constraints of a formal classroom is not new; both Montessori and Waldorf schools, for example, are based on this idea. But it has been difficult to measure the effect these environments have comparing with a traditional classroom setting.
A study performed by the Gensler Research Institute measured the impact on students' attention and engagement in an enhanced learning environment, one that was flexible and mobile enough to provide students with opportunities to choose their own activities, learn from one another, and engage in hands-on work. The results found that students in the enhanced space spent less time learning from the teacher and more from one another and by themselves, reporting an increase in the efficacy across all learning modes—that is, an improvement in their ability to focus, collaborate, acquire, and convey information in the learning space.
The research also showed a higher productivity and commitment, thanks to the feeling of support by having the chance to work collaboratively with one another in a social setting and experiencing greater feelings of connectedness, which further create a positive association toward the school itself.
In addition to this, the role of presenter seamlessly shifts between teacher and student; as such, they were able to interact with the material at a deeper level than they could have when they were passive receptacles for information.
If you're interested in creating your own flexible learning space, there are some simple changes you can make. Many people are surprised to find that there is a huge difference between an ordinary classroom and a classroom designed to allow for flexibility in learning.
At Office Line, we believe education can be transformed by design, which is why our goal is to create spaces that support collaboration, bring students and teachers together and encourage creativity, our expertise can help you create the perfect space for your school.

]]>The St John Henry Newman Learning Hub is a key facility at Newman College, featuring a main open plan learning space, with breakout rooms, meeting areas and lecture theatre branching off. The three-story building provides modern collaboration spaces, and state of the art learning resources for students to work together and individually.
We worked as a team with other key stakeholders of the project such as Munns Sly Moore Architects, the principal and other key staff of Newman College to integrate the values, vision and educational needs of the school with the expertise of the architects.
Our range of products enabled us to provide the right furniture for each section of the Hub. For example, throughout the main learning space of the Hub, the use of Spectator Lounges is noticeable, curving around structural poles and providing maximum seating for students.
This product is professional and modern, sufficiently answering to design principles, and enabling the space to flow cohesively. They shadow the architectural design of the staircases and walkways throughout the building. The lounges also give opportunity to showcase the colours used throughout the whole Hub, in just one section.
Our extensive EN range supplied most of the Hub and its branches with chairs and stools which are both ergonomically and aesthetically appropriate. Due to the flexibility of this product, a variety of shapes and colours could be used, to distinguish each classroom, and allow for a mixture of learning environments. Paired with the EN chairs and stools, are Eduflex desks and benches, which are made so they can fit together to form the curved tables seen in the fly-through. In smaller Study Rooms, Asti Chairs were customized so they had a fabric cover, giving the room a professional feel.
Well done to Newman College and Munns Sly Moore for creating this awesome space. The project has produced an impressive fit out of the Hub, which is leading-edge in terms of educational facilities and learning spaces. As more and more schools move to this open-plan model, with a main learning space branching into specialized areas, our products continue to evolve and expand.
At Office Line, we believe in the importance of innovative learning areas which inspire students to achieve their best. Our products are trusted and professional. We look forward to working with both architects and schooling professionals to continue to provide for the next generation.

The Lighthouse Studio at The King’s College was part of their inclusive education upgrade. It was designed to create a safe space for students to be able to retreat and seek assistance without any stigma.
With an understanding of our client's needs, we were able to produce a great result. Our project design lead, Amanda, worked closely with the school team and presented them with layouts and 3D renders so they could visualize how their ideas would look in reality.
At Office Line, we strive to only use furniture and materials made here in Australia. We want every student to have the best possible experience while they're at school, and we believe that starts with the spaces they spend their time in every day.

The Laurence Library at St Georges Anglican Grammar School is a beautiful, renovated space that was designed to offer peace and quiet for those looking for a bit respite, as well as inspire productivity for study and collaboration. The library has large windows that let in natural light, comfortable furniture, and plenty of spaces to study or collaborate with others. It's the perfect place to get inspiration, study or just take a rest.
Our design consultant, Amanda, worked alongside the newly appointed Library Services Coordinator, Dr. Pedersen, to achieve an optimal environment that uses both books and technology. With reading bays beneath the windows between bookcases, lounges with integrated power, study booths and a combination of low and high tables, the space can accommodate many learning styles.
One of the new features was a bookable classroom with a flexible, multi-purpose layout. The S Shaped Lounge and round tables with writeable tops are perfect for collaborative projects. The tall timber benches with stools provide plenty of space for students to work individually or in groups. And finally, the combination of sled and swivel chairs facilitate the mobility of the furniture and make it easy to set spaces up.
The school celebrate the indigenous culture, therefore, the colourful Australian Aboriginal Textiles have been included as part of the new library furniture as the way to show their appreciation. The textiles are bright and vibrant, adding life to the library.
Many thanks to St. George's Anglican Grammar School for trusting this great project to us.

Office Line is a proudly Australian-owned company that has been producing safe, practical, and high-quality classroom, office, and hospitality furniture for over 30 years. Our extensive range of desks, chairs and stools, classroom storage, and other furnishings and accessories can be found in educational and commercial settings right across Australia.
In this blog, we answer one of the most common questions asked about school desks: what desks are best for classrooms in Australia? There is no one size fits all solution but, in our opinion, there are four main things to consider in order to find the best desk for your school: age group, size of the class, availability of space, and the chairs.
It’s important to know what desk size and height you will need for the age group of your pupils. While no two children are alike, there are some useful guidelines that can help you select the best desks for your classroom. For example, 3- to 4-year-olds are between 930 cm and 1150 cm in height on average and will best suit a desk that has a seat height of 260cm and a table height of 460cm. You can use our online furniture size guide to find the best chair and desk heights by age group.
If you have a small class size, then you may want to consider larger tables to fill the space or opt for shared table configurations. You may wish to adopt double desks so children can work in pairs or give each student the benefit of space and their own workstation complete with tray storage. In contrast, if you have a large classroom, then you may need to consider how to best optimise table space, such as double desks with trays underneath, or collaborative tables for working in groups.
Not only do you need to consider how much desk space you need for the number of students, but you also have to consider how much space is available in the room. Even the best desks are not suitable if they make the room cramped; the solution may not be less desks but a different type of desk shape! Equilateral triangles work well when space is limited, like our Collaborative Tri Tables.
Last but not least, make sure your chairs fit into whatever desk you choose, otherwise your tables will not be as comfortable or functional as they could be! Office Line can supply your school with school chairs and stools so you have the perfect desk and chair setup in your classroom.
With over 30 years’ experience delivering high-quality classroom furnishings, the team at Office Line has extensive knowledge of the education sector. We understand the important role that classroom furniture plays in any educational endeavour, and we pride ourselves on delivering professional, personalised products and solutions.

]]>Even if you’re not really a customer-facing operation, for the vast majority of businesses, your office will not be totally sealed off from the world. Clients and potential partners, for example, will often want to come and see how things are done on the ground before going into business with you or at any stage along the way. If your workspace looks like a shambles, most of your visitors will head for the door pretty quickly.
Your office fit-out might not be the first thing on your mind when you’re trying to run your business, but it will be front-and-centre in the thoughts of your team. An uncomfortable chair or unworkable desk configuration can make the difference between a pleasant, versatile, efficient workspace and one they dread coming to work at every day. Giving your employees good-quality, ergonomic office furniture shows them that they are valued, and it can even instil a greater sense of pride in your business and the work they do for it.
As a business owner, occupational health and safety should be one of your chief concerns. Having clean, high-quality furniture and fittings isn’t just a question of aesthetics; out of date chairs and teetering shelves can pose safety risks. Falls and collisions are the most obvious example, but repetitive stress injuries from out-of-date or poor-quality office equipment are also a regular occurrence. Failing to replace your office fittings once they’re out of date can seriously endanger your staff and anyone else who comes into your office. Even if no major accidents occur, you could still find yourself in hot water, facing massive fines and other punitive measures if a health and safety inspector deems your place of work not up to scratch.
Not only will a new office fit out make your employees happier and more comfortable, it can have a huge impact on productivity. Set your space up to serve the needs of your business. Do team members need to communicate with one another regularly, or is it more important that they have private space to focus on their own work? Will the setup be fixed or flexible? These are the kinds of things you should be considering when planning your office makeover.
New technological innovations are happening all the time, so set your office up to make the most of them! Whether it’s an interactive screen or iPad charging port, these things were designed to make your job easier.
Is it high time your office got a new fit-out? For expert advice or information on any of our product range, contact Office Line today on 1800 333 116.

In this blog, we give some practical tips on designing your school’s computer lab or other tech-oriented learning space.
These are a few preliminary questions you should ask yourself before you start working in earnest on your design. Is this going to be set aside specifically for computer use, or will other kinds of activities take place here too? What kinds of work will your students be doing and what kinds of devices will they use? If they are going to be using specialised programs for graphic design, sound, or video editing, etc., you may opt for larger desktop computers. In this instance, you will probably want to make this room a dedicated computer lab.
If your students are only going to be using simple applications like the Microsoft Office Suite Programs, you may choose to go with laptops or even tablets. This will give you much more flexibility, as laptops and tablets can be conveniently put away and stored in a charging tower. The FUYL Tower Charging Locker features 15 individually lockable compartments and can be used to store any mobile device.
If your lab is going to have 25 computers, you’ll need at least double that many power sockets. Any power socket that will be used with a computer should also be fitted with a surge protector, which will prevent any damage to the devices that might occur during power outages.
You will also want to keep in mind the potential tripping hazard and general clutter involved with running power cords over long distances and across walkways. One of the best ways to avoid this is by using an in-desk power supply, such as the Pandora In Desk Charger, which features two power sockets and two USB chargers.
How your computer lab is arranged will depend on the kind of interaction you want to encourage in your classes. If you are going with a fixed desktop option, then you will obviously be extremely limited in terms of adjusting the layout for a specific purpose. Having the desks arranged in parallel rows, either all facing one wall or facing opposite walls, is highly space-efficient and the best layout for your students to focus on their work or on the teacher, rather than each other. You could also arrange the desk in a U shape with a space at the centre of the room where the teacher would stand, but this requires a little more room. For a desktop computer platform, we recommend the Level 2 Sit and Stand Platform. This can be easily adjusted between sitting and standing positions, allowing your students to stretch while they work.
We have been supplying kindergartens, schools, universities, and businesses throughout Australia with high-quality furniture and fittings for over 30 years. Our expert knowledge of the education sector means we don’t just supply products for classroom use, we know how to set up your space for academic success. ]]>Whether you're trying to organise a charity gala or a lecture, the seating plan of your auditorium space is going to be essential in its success. If you lack the right event and hospitality furniture to create a space that emphasises communication between your guests Office Line can offer you the perfect mobile seating solutions for your event.
Today our blog will be covering the different range of seating and furniture options to consider when planning an array of events in your space.
Auditorium events that are largely audience focused, like plays, movie showings or any other dramatic productions all require a large amount of seating to fit as many viewers as needed to keep up with your events demand.
If this space is purely for these types of events, then a more permanent seating option could become a worthwhile investment for your space. But if your auditorium has other priorities, for example if it’s in a school that’s used for an array of events like sports and meetings then a portable and compact seating option is going to be the most cost and space effective option.
Our Flow Beam Chairs have a robust and sturdy frame, making them a durable option for your auditorium's seating arrangement. With the option to order these in groups of two to four seats and adaptable arm feature options these chairs are perfect for large seating demands that can be stacked and put away when not in use.
Classroom and lectures require this similar styled seating that can be easily put away. For these seating options you’ll want to try and find a chair that has the ability to hold a movable desk for note taking.
Another key furnishing to add to this space is of course a lecture stand; this is especially important in large auditoriums that swallow any sounds in their large space. Our Lectrum L2001 has been designed purely for the use of large conferences and lecture events. With a built in document shield, dual microphone, reading light and a premium high-finish coat the Lectrum L2001 is by far the most essential furnishing needed in any lecture auditorium.
If you have a large auditorium that is used for a range of hospitality and compassionate events, not only is it important to consider the right seating choice, but to choose the right tables.
It’s critical to think about the storage needs of these tables so your space can easily be moved around and used for other events in short notice. This is where our MityLite Round Banquet Tables become the perfect solution. These tables come in a range of sizes and can reduce the amount of time spent on setting up and packing away tables for events. With a specifically built storage cart you can easily fold up the legs and roll them all up onto these storage trolleys to be ready for the next hired event.
Cocktail or gala events are usually set up in a different manner to most other functions, with stools or no chairs; these events help to promote socialising and movement among their attendees. These charity balls and cocktail business events may at times have a dance floor, depending on the individual's requirements.
Our SICO Dance Floor - Cam-Lam is perfect not only for environments that promote socialisation but can be used in a range of other events, making it a worthwhile purchase for your space. This specific model comes in many styles to suit your event space perfectly. It can also be packed and carted away to save your employees a significant time in set up and avoid any possible injuries.

The refurbished building includes modern spaces for classes, a relaxed area for students wishing to study or have a game of chess, and functional spaces for small group work.
We were approached by the College in August 2020 with the opportunity to submit a proposal for their McAuley Library Space. Our Design and Customer consultants worked with the Principal, Business Manager and Library Coordinator from Emmanuel, and Cirillo Architects to define their requirements and understand their vision for the area.
Our wide range of products enabled us to provide the right furniture for each area. The Asti Chair range and I.AM Table family by Thinking Works provided a cohesive flow through the different spaces, allowing for creativity with the colours and shapes of the soft furnishings. We were able to use the Asti range for stools, student chairs and mobile chairs in the meeting spaces, both with Seat pads and fully upholstered styles.
Some of the Soft furnishings we used in the Library space include:
A highlight for us was being able to provide custom shape Tables for the Booths and specific meeting room requirements, and custom ottomans for the library shelving. Our Australian manufacturing enabled this to be done easily and matched to other furniture being supplied.
Office Line are honored to have worked with Emmanuel College and Cirillo Architects on this awesome learning area, a centre where Emmanuel’s students will continue to grow and learn. We want to congratulate them on their choice of colours – it took time to get this right and it was definitely worth it! The finished project is stunning.

But other variables also contribute to creating an optimal learning environment. In this blog, we present our range of EN stackable chairs and classroom IT chairs, weighing the relative merits of each, and discuss how they can be used to create your ideal classroom setting.
The Benefits of Stacking Chairs
The most obvious benefit of stacking classroom chairs is their space efficiency, as they can be quickly stacked and put aside when not in use to create more floor space. They are also an exceedingly versatile seating option, as they offer the teacher greater flexibility in changing the layout of the room depending on the activity or size of the class.
The En One is one of Office Line’s flagship products and has been our most popular classroom chair for years. The EN One is made from light and durable glass-filled polypropylene. Manufactured to meet exacting European standards and to stand up to the rigours of daily, long-term use, the EN One can be stacked 21 tall to a height of two metres.
These chairs come in a variety of colours and are also available in Black ‘Eco’ variety using recycled materials, reducing the already small carbon footprint to make them exceptionally environmentally friendly. The EN One is covered by a 21-year warranty, the longest manufacturer warranty of any one-piece classroom chair on the market.
The EN Classic Chair is ergonomically designed to offer maximum comfort while encouraging attention. The EN classic body is made from in the UK polypropylene, making it 100% recyclable. A clever waterfall designed front improves circulation while sitting, and the chair can support up to 125kg in weight and angled back-legs discourage students tilting back while sitting. The EN Classic can be safely and securely stacked up to six high and comes with a 15-year warranty. Both the EN One and the EN Classic chairs are AFRDI certified and tested to Australian standards for Level 6 ‘severe’ contract use.
Our range includes a wide variety of other classroom chairs and furniture defined by simplicity, ergonomics, space efficiency, and value. Our catalogue features all the items you need to bring your classroom up to date and ensure your students are in the best possible position to learn.
The EN 50 gas lift chair is a popular, high value choice for school computer labs. This chair features a rotating gas lift and is available with glides, castors, or pressure-locking Castors. This chair has a weight limit of 100kg and is available in 16 different colour options. The EN 50 comes with a 15-year manufacturer warranty.

Like our classroom furniture, these chairs, tables, and stools are built for comfort and feature a simple, elegant design approach that ensures your customers feel at home in your café or restaurant.
One of our most popular seating options is the Cypris Chair. The Cypris Chair features a reinforced polypropylene shell, comes in seven different colours, and is available with and without armrests. Easily stackable and UV resistant, the Cypris Chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Simple, stylish, and highly durable, each Cypris Chair comes with a five-year warranty for peace of mind.
A minimalist companion piece to the Cypris Chair, our Industrial Stool was designed in France by Xavier Pauchard Tolix in 1934. Nearly a century later, it remains a popular seating choice for many commercial settings around the world. The Industrial Stool features a lightweight steel frame, is available in 10 colours and three different sizes, and can be stacked for ease of storage.
For an even more versatile option, our Swiftset Folding Chair is ideal for use in school classrooms, halls, churches, and cafés. The Swiftset Chair is an incredible space saver, easily folding away for storage on a custom-made trolley, which can hold up to 48 individual chairs. Despite its super lightweight design, the Swiftset Chair is deceptively strong and durable, able to support up to 450kg.
Finally, the Regis Chair offers high grade steel tubing for maximum strength and durability and a moulded foam seat and backrest for improved comfort. It can be stacked 10 high when not in use and is an excellent option for events where guests will remain seated for long periods.
Officeline also offers a number of tables for the hospitality and catering industries, like the weather resistant Flip Café Table. Ideal for seating one or two patrons, Flip Café Tables are also built for horizontal nesting, meaning they can be pushed together to accommodate multiple diners. These tables feature a folding top for ease of storage.
For large events, you can’t go past our MKII Trestle Tables and Round Banquet Tables. Exceptionally strong and foldable for compact storage, these tables feature heavy-duty steel frames and ABS plastic tops with a honeycomb core.
